It’s been a little while since my last post (sorry everyone) but some times you just gotta take some time out. I’m hoping to be much more regular with posting from now..
So, since my last post, I’ve had a little/semi big change.. my hair! After 5 years or so with the same length hair and being various shades of red, pink and oranges/coppers.. I’d been feeling a little bored and wanting a style change. As much as I loved those colours (and still think they look great on others), my esteem had been dropping and I wanted something that would really pick me up and feel fierce again! I was finding that I was dressing less and less in my pin up style clothes and I was ‘floating’ in-between styles (though pin-up punk is kinda cool right?!) and kind of feeling a bit lost and not myself.
Since moving to Brighton, I’ve been having my hair cut at Cuttlefish Hair– a cruelty free and eco hair salon (the majority of their products are vegan, just check with the friendly staff first!).
At the beginning of October, I had a quick consultation and patch test with the lovely Shannon (who is also vegan!) and she booked me in mid-late October in their new Lewes branch. She seemed pretty excited to work with me, and that made me even more excited for the new change.
Overall the lightening/stripping of the orange and red tones, re-colour and cut took 4 hours..
Considering the length of time the bleach was in my hair and then the application of the colour, my hair still felt so strong and soft afterwards! This is the first time I’ve had it coloured professionally, and I’m so glad I didn’t do it myself. We used La Riche Directions in ‘Alpine Green.’ Shannon did an amazing job and getting it done properly along with the AMAZING organic products is why my hair felt so nice afterwards.
It really is amazing how your hair can make all the difference. I was SO SO happy with the results and it was the first time in a long time I really felt happy with the way I looked. I’ve not had a bob since I was about five, I was so unsure if it would suit me, but I think it does eh?! I absolutely love the way my hair looks green in some lights and blue in others <3.
A big thanks to the lovely and amazing Cuttlefish. Change can be scary, but go for it!
